Juniper berries owe their use to an essential oil, content 0.2 to 2% dependent on provenance e.g. Hungarian berries contain 1.2% and German berries only 0.7%. The essential oil is mainly composed of monoterpenes: 80% alpha- and beta-pinene, thujene, sabinene, 5% terpinene-4-ol, alpha-terpineol, borneol and geraniol; sesqiterpenes (alpha- and beta-cadinen, caryophyllene) are found in traces.

ジュニパーベリーの使用は精油の恩恵によります。精油含有量は原産地により0.2 から 2%で、例えば、ハンガリーの液果は1.2%でドイツは唯の0.7%になる。精油は主にモノテルペン炭化水素：80% α- およびβ-ピネン, ツヨネン, サビネン, 5% テルピンネン-4-ol, α-テルピネオール, ボルネオール およびゲラニオール ; セキステルペン炭化水素(α- および β-カジネン, カリオフィレン) は微量です。

Commercial juniper oil is produced by two methods: the best oil is steam distilled from the crushed, dried or partially dried, ripe berries. Occasionally water distillation is used. The greater part of all commercial juniper oil, however, is derived from the fermented fruits as a byproductof　central European juniper brandy manufacture.

販売されているジュニパー精油は2つの方法によって抽出される：最高品質の精油は、砕いて、乾燥または一部乾燥し熟した液果から蒸留される。時々、水蒸留法は用いられる。しかし、全ての販売用ｼﾞｭﾆﾊﾟｰ精油の大部分は中央ヨーロッパのｼﾞｭﾆﾊﾟｰ・ブランディー製造の副産物としての発酵した液果から由来する。

It should be noted that juniper berries contain certain amounts of fixed oil, occasionally called juniper oil. Juniper oil is a water white or very pale yellow, mobile oil, having a fresh, yet warm, rich balsamic, woody sweet and pine-needle like odour.

ジュニパーの液果はある量の固定油（不揮発性油）を含有していて、時々、ジュニパー精油と呼ばれていることを注意すべきである。ジュニパー精油はウォーターホワイトまたはすごく淡い黄色、液体、新鮮で、さらに温かみ、
濃いバルサミック、木の甘みおよびパインニードルのような香りである。

In fact, the oil of Pinus pumilio resembles juniper oil very much in odour characteristics. The oil derived from the fermented fruits usually has a more turpentine like, pinene like odour and little or no balsamic sweetness. It's tenacity is inferior to that of the true oil. Cade oil (huile de cade), or juniper tar oil is made by the dry distillation of the heartwood.

ジュニパーの液果はある量の固定油（不揮発性油）を含有していて、時々、ジュニパー精油と呼ばれていることを留意する必要がある。事実、ドゥオーフパイン精油は香りの特徴でｼﾞｭﾆﾊﾟｰ極めて似ている。発酵した液果から得られた精油は通常よりテルピンチンのようでピネンような香りでほんのすこしまたはバルサミックの甘さがないです。その粘性は本物のｼﾞｭﾆﾊﾟｰ精油より劣っている。ケード精油、またはジュニパー・タール精油は心材の乾留によって得られる。

It is a middle note and blends well with basil, cedar, all citrus oils, cypress, fennel, lavender, pine, rosemary, clary sage, elemi, fir, lavendin and oakmoss.

ジュニパーはミドルノートで、相性の良い精油は、バジル、全ての柑橘系精油、サイプレス、フェンネル、ラベンダー、パイン、ローズマリー、クラリーセージ、エレミ、モミ、ラヴァンジンおよびオークモスです。

It's actions include analgesic, antifungal, antirheumatic, aphrodisiac, astringent, bactericidal, carminative, cathartic, cephalic, deobstruent, diaphoretic, digestive, disinfectant, diuretic, emetic, emmenagogue, febrifuge, fumigant, panacea, sedative, stimulant, sudorific, tonic and insect repellant.

ジュニパーの作用は、鎮痛、抗真菌、抗リウマチ、催淫、収れん、抗菌、駆風、瀉下、頭部機能促進、閉塞物除去、発汗、消化、殺菌、利尿、催吐、通経、解熱、燻蒸、万能、鎮静、刺激、発汗、強壮、および　虫よけである。
