以前は外因性の麻薬性鎮痛物質が結合する脳内の作用点として「オピエート受容体 (Opiate Receptor)」と称されたが、受容体タンパク質と結合する生理活性ペプチドとしてβエンドルフィンなどのオピオイドペプチドが発見されるに伴い、オピオイド受容体と呼ばれるようになった。

オピエート受容体は知覚および感情体験の統合に関与する哺乳類の脳および脊髄の領域に集中していることを彼らは発見した。

考えたこと

オピエート受容体は脳および脊椎に集中していて身体のあらゆる他の部位にも見られます。以前にマッサージはエンドルフィン発現によいと紹介しました。受容体の分布のことを考えると脊椎に沿ってのマッサージや頭皮マッサージは効果があるのではないかと思いました。
