Throughout history, the special anatomical location of the pineal gland in the central nervous system has given rise to a number of physiological hypotheses regarding the functional role of this organ.
歴史をつうじて、中枢神経系における松果腺の特殊解剖学的肢位はこの器官の機能的役割に関する数多くの生理学的仮説の増加をもたらした。

In classical ancient times, the pineal body (conarium) was considered to be a sort of valve-like sphincter that regulated the flow of the spiritus animalis at the ventricular level. But it was not until the 17th century that the pineal gland finally reached its highest levels of physiological significance, when Rene Descartes considered it to be the anatomical structure that housed the seat of the soul.
古典古代で、松果体（上生体）は脳室レベルで動物精気の流れを調節するある種弁のような括約筋あると考えられた。しかし、ルネ•デカルトは松果体が魂の座を宿す解剖学的部分であると考えたとき17世紀になって初めて、松果体がついに生理学的意義の最高レベルに達した。

CONCLUSIONS:
結論
The Cartesian hypotheses regarding the pineal gland did not arouse much interest in the scientific community of the time, and attention to this organ dwindled from then until the 20th century, when its neuroendocrinological nature was finally confirmed.
松果体に関するデカルトの仮説は当時の科学界にあまり多くの興味ををかき立てなかった。そして、この器官に対する注目はその時から減少して、ついに20世紀になってその神経内分泌学的特質が最終的に確認された。

フランスの哲学者ルネ・デカルトの『情念論』(Passions de l'âme 1649年)で松果体からの動物精気が神経を動かし感情が生じるとした。しかし後に生物が機械であるという機械論が主流となり忘れ去られていった。
思いついたこと
チャクラと内分泌のことを調べていたときに見つけた文献です。以前のブログ・腺機能不全、アンバランスと協調障害：エドガー・ケイシーの病気の原因、11項目の8の中で“秘儀的感覚で、ケイシーは、魂の記憶およびカルマの担い手、または魂の成長に必要な教訓として内分泌センターを選んだ。”各チャクラと内分泌と関係があります。デカルトの還元主義はホリスティックに対する考え方であると聞いています。この記事で心と内分泌の関係があることをデカルトが言っていることに驚きました。
また、チャクラと内分泌のことを調べているとneuroendocrine・神経内分泌の言葉を良く見つけます。このことはストレスによって内分泌腺から出てくるホルモンが違ってくることを言っているのだと思います。ストレスによって感情が違てきます。
ある人は怒ったり、悲しんだり、イラついたりすることによって内分泌腺に影響して出てくるホルモンが変わって体調を崩すのかも知れません。感情と病気について興味を持っていて調べていくとデカルトのところに来ました。
