世界で活躍するRhiannon Lewis リアノン・ルイス先生は、2013,Oncology Massage Healing Summit・2013腫瘍のマッサージ治療サミットで下記の講演を行いました。Aromapsychology in Cancer Care: Evidence and Applications(がんケアにおけるアロマ心理学：証拠と使用法)。

このことで、米国ではがん患者さんにオンコロジー・マッサージを行っていることを知りました。関連の本を見つけて、アマゾンの紹介文を翻訳してブログに掲載しました。本を購入してから目次を紹介しようと思い少しずつ翻訳して今回完成しました。

ホーリズム（Holism）とは、ある系（システム）全体は、それの部分の算術的総和以上のものである、とする考えのことである[1]。あるいは、全体を部分や要素に還元することはできない、とする立場である[2]。
すなわち、部分部分をバラバラに理解していても系全体の振る舞いを理解できるものではない、という事実を指摘する考え方である。部分や要素の理解だけでシステム全体が理解できたと信じてしまう還元主義と対立する。全体論と訳すこともある。
